luzinterruptus

Luzinterruptus is an anonymous collective that has been exploring the use of light in public spaces for over 15 years.

The philosophy behind their work is just as significant to Luzinterruptus as the final outcome. Drawing inspiration from St. Thomas Aquinas, they embrace the idea that "it is better to illuminate than merely to shine, to deliver to others contemplated truths than merely to contemplate."

Luzinterruptus approaches each project with a strong emphasis on collaborative creation, considering the materials they use, the methods of acquisition, and the ways in which they illuminate and share their work with audiences. Sustainability is a constant challenge they actively address in every project.

Rather than identifying as traditional artists, the collective considers itself more as artisans, embracing the complexities this entails in a world that often prioritizes speed, efficiency, the easy and the safe, the grandiose, and the visually immediate over thoughtful and intentional processes.
